Smitten
I'm not sure if it's the hormones lately or because I am finally getting more than 4 hours sleep at night, but I have been feeling totally unimaginably, uncontrollably, unconditionally in love with my little 7 month man. Every little thing he does makes my heart melt. I thought it might only last for a week or two, and then I will go back to occasionally feeling annoyed when he cries or grieving the loss of 'me time'. But the love just keeps on going, and growing. It's quite lovely.
I love the way he curls his fingers with his arms in the air, like he is riding a motorbike.
I love how he smiles at me when I walk in the room.
I love how lately he always wants to know where I am when we are out, and although he loves other people, he feels secure when Mumma is there.
I love his little toes and little chubby feet.
I love his fluff for hair, so light you can barely see it.
I love when he says 'Mummm Mum Mumm Mum' when he wants something (I don't think he knows I am Mum yet).
I love his concentration face when he is holding and investigating an object.
I love how he kicks his legs and flaps his arms in his high chair, making load noises when we sing songs at dinner time.
I love how he clings onto me when I take him for his bath or shower at night, as he screams in excitement!
I love when we wrestle on the bed in the mornings, giggling and tickling.
I love his big belly laugh he does when we play hide and seek.
I love how he pushes his forehead against mine when we maori kiss.
I love how excited he gets when he sees Chico, and how he tries to get to him to play with him.
I love how he wacks his toys together to make different sounds.
I love the cheeky proud face he does when he finds a new toy (or a power cord).
I love his big blue eyes.
I love his chubba tummy and fat rolls on his arms and legs.
I love his half smile slightly confused face he does when he is unsure of what is happening.
I love how when he is tired and rubbing his eyes, he tries to still be happy.
I love how when I put him in his high chair, he just sits and waits patiently and doesn't make a fuss.
I love his staring into the distance glance and smiles he does in the car before going to sleep.
I love when I am feeding him at night, he stops every now and then, looks at me and gives me a little smile as if to say 'I love you too Mumma, Thanks for looking after me today'.
I love cuddling him close at night, when he is sleepy and snuggly.
I love the sounds he makes to calm himself down when he is upset and I'm rocking him in my arms.
I love so many more things too. I thanks God for this little blessing. To show my love in a way he understands, I am trying to make sure I get on the floor and play with Tobs (even if it's just for a few moments) sit outside with him, chat with him and look him in the eye. Sometimes this means letting the house get messy, putting your phone away or having very little or no 'me time' but thats ok. Lets remember to cherish all the little things and the small everyday moments.

Love this piece Grace. You will treasure this one day when the memory fades and there are a number of kids and they are grown up you will look back at this and be reminded of the previous times these memories recall.
